My books on the subject of modern art as a search for recall of the remains of an old 'animal' way of sensing objects and events. My assertion throughout these writings is that we have evolved to suppress an inherent experience of mind, and traditional art arose to help us achieve this act of subversion in our powers of observation. Only now have some perceptive artists realised that they need to avoid the old established ways of working so that art can be created that provokes what little remains of this inhertence from our origins.
